Neu: Glenkinchie Tattoo

GLENKINCHIE LAUNCHES LIMITED EDITION DISTILLERY EXCLUSIVE BOTTLING CELEBRATING THE ROYAL EDINBURGH MILITARY TATTOO

Glenkinchie Distillery has announced the release of an exclusive single malt Scotch bottling in partnership with The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Glenkinchie Tattoo is the official whisky of the annual event, with the limited-edition run of 6,000 bottles available to taste at the event and to purchase from the Glenkinchie East Lothian distillery and The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo Shop.

Ramsay Borthwick, the Senior Site Manager at Glenkinchie Distillery adds:

“We are proud to be the official whisky of The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2019. This highly prized release has been specially selected by our expert team at the distillery as a celebration of our heritage as “the Edinburgh Malt” and the unique partnership between two of the city’s greatest icons, both celebrating our glorious history.”

Created from the Glenkinchie reserves, this exclusive Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo bottling is a natural partnership between two institutions deeply rooted in Scottish tradition. The resulting collaborative liquid, chosen together by the Tattoo and Glenkinchie teams, produces a distinctive release with true Edinburgh character.

Located just 15 miles outside Edinburgh, the nearby Glenkinchie Distillery was established in 1837 by John and George Rate and is situated amongst the rolling hills where some of the world’s finest barley is grown. Named after the Kinchie burn (river), the distillery produces whisky well known for its enormous character and depth.

Matured in rejuvenated hogsheads and American oak barrels, Glenkinchie Tattoo opens with a burst of dried fruits, raisins, red grapes on the nose, followed by warm baking spices, butterscotch and sweet Scottish tablet. Cranberry and red apple are ever present bringing with them a freshness and fruity characters which remain ever-present on the palate. The first sip brings a subtle yet woody spice and burnt oranges to the palate, with the spice and planed oak elements becoming more pronounced when adding a splash of water. The creamy finish lingers, finishing off with warming yet sweet and aromatic notes of the limitededition liquid. Glenkinchie Tattoo will retail at RSP £65 per 70cl bottle with only 6,000 bottles available and is bottled at 46% ABV.

In brief… Rich fruit and butterscotch flavours with a hint of woody spice, followed by a creamy finish.
