Seit Juni hat die Edrington Group (Besitzer von unter anderem The Macallan sowie Highland Park) die Destillerie Glenturret in den Highlands zum Verkauf ausgeschrieben. Nun ist der Besitzerwechsel der Brennerei, die seit 240 Jahren Whisky produziert, beschlossene Sache. Und mit ihm ist auch die Schweiz unter die Eigner von schottischen Whiskybrennereien geraten.
Käufer ist nämlich der Weingroßhänder und -Produzent Art & Terroir, gemeldet in Zollikon in der Schweiz. Man will dort, nach der endgültigen Übernahme im Frühjahr 2019, alle bestehenden 23 Arbeitsplätze erhalten. Über die Kaufsumme wurde nichts verlautbart, steht im Artikel der BBC.
Edrington will nach eigenen Angaben die neuen Eigentümer während einer Übergangsperiode mit der eigenen Expertise begleiten.
