Gefunden haben wir ihn erst vor einigen Tagen in den Datenbanken der USA. Heute wurde er dann offiziell angekündigt, und schon im Juli, also relativ zeitnah, soll es laut einer Info der Destillerie Arran soweit sein: Der neue Arran Explorers Series Volume 1 – Brodick Bay wird im Fachhandel, im Shop der Destillerie und deren Olineshop erscheinen (dort jeweils am 10. Juli um 12 Uhr unserer Zeit). Er ist Teil 1 einer Serie, die die landschaftlichen Schönheiten der Insel Arran feiert.
Der 20jährige Arran stammt aus Bourbon Barrels und Sherry Hogsheads, bevor er in Oloroso Sherry Butts der Bodegas Tradicion in Jerez de la Frontera in Spanien gefinisht wurde.
Der Whisky ist mit 49.8% abgefüllt und auf 9.000 Flaschen weltweit beschränkt. Ausgeliefert wird er offensichtlich in einer Metallbox.
Der Preis in UK wird 130 Britische Pfund betragen, bei uns wahrscheinlich etwas mehr in Euro. Hier noch die offiziellen Tasting Notes:
NOSE Immediate notes of creamy toffee emerge, with the fresh fruity citrus notes of Arran also very evident. The promise of something memorable.
PALATE Starts with an intense sweetness which coats the tongue as the creamy toffee develops into a treacle laced fudge. Dark chocolate raisins and honey give this dram delicious depth which stays long on the palate. With time or a drop of water, this dram opens up beautifully and shows another side with soft oak and hints of pink pepper.
FINISH Long and memorable. A real gourmet dram which retains the sweetness of the delicate Arran character with layers of rich intense fruit. Welcome to Brodick Bay and the beautiful Isle of Arran.
