Das fünfte und finale Bottling der The Macallan Golden Age of Travel Series ist veröffentlicht worden, ein 35 Jahre alter Macallan 1940 in einem Lalique Decanter und einem besonderen Koffer, der den Decanter hält.
Die fünfte Ausgabe ist der Luftfahrt gewidmet, der 50.000 Dollar teure Decanter wird in einer Auflage von 48 Stück in ausgesuchten Global Travel Retail Outlets und in Macallan Boutiquen erhältlich sein. Die Decanter 49 und 50 wandern in die Archive von Macallan und Lalique.
Geschmacklich wird der Whisky wie folgt beschrieben:
The first reveal of the character of the whisky comes through the antique oak colour, and on the nose an atmospheric smoked oak with a richness of orange oil and dried fruits, exquisitely balanced with a beautifully light floral note of spring blossoms. Beyond this initial delight, smoked oak features on the palate with elements of opulent dark chocolate and orange, with just a hint of sweet ginger. The finish is long and lingering, like the memories of the passengers that travelled during this era, reliving the experience in all its glory.
