Nach einem Report von Bord Bia, dem Irish Food Board, hat der Export von Alkohol aus Irland im vergangenen Jahr um satte 19% zugenommen – er erwirtschaftet nun in Summe 1,62 Milliarden Euro.
Diese starke Erholung folgt allerdings einem ebenso starken Rückgang im Jahr 2020, der der Pandemie und den US-Tarifen geschuldet war.
Speerspitze der Erholung war irischer Whiskey, der um 25% wuchs und mit 855 Millionen Euro mehr als die Hälfte der Exporte in diesem Sektor ausmachte. Mehr als die Hälfte (55%) gingen dabei in die USA. Auch irischer Cremelikör wuchs um 19% auf 367 Millionen Euro, auch hier ging ein guter Teil in die USA; nämlich 40%.
Während die USA mit 51% der größte Markt für irischen Alkohol bleibt, konnte auch der Export in das Vereinigte Königreich zulegen, und zwar um 25% auf 255 Millionen Euro.
Für 2022 ist man weiter optimistisch und erwartet sich solides Wachstum.
The new figures illustrate the resilience of the Irish drinks industry, which demonstrated strong recovery last year after the difficulties of 2020, with overall exports returning to 2019 levels. The prospects for the drinks sector are broadly positive for 2022, with recovery expected to continue in the spirits sector, despite challenges in relation to inflation across the supply chain.
