Bis heute, 01:01 unserer Zeit war diese Meldung unter Embargo, nun dürfen wir sie Ihnen bringen: Die Speyside-Destillerie Benriach, im Besitz von Brown-Forman, veröffentlicht nun offiziell den BenRiach Authenticus 30yo. Der getorfte Whisky aus der traditionsreichen Brennerei ist der Nachfolger des Authenticus 25yo.
Der Whisky ist in dem Stil gehalten, in dem die Destillerie im 19. Jahrhundert arbeitete. Laut Charlie MacLean ist Benriach aber auch die erste Speyside-Destillerie, die nach dem 2. Weltkrieg wieder getorften Whisky veröffentlichte. Das war 2004 der BenRiach Curiositas. Produziert wurde rauchiger Malt dort schon länger, und so hat man Fässer mit rauchigem Whisky, die bis ins Jahr 1975 zurückdatieren.
Der Torf dafür stammte und stammt aus dem Nordosten Schottlands und ergibt eine eher süße Rauchigkeit.
Der Whisky ist nicht kältegefiltert, ungefärbt und wird mit 46% abgefüllt. Einen Preis hat man in der englischsprachigen Aussendung nicht genannt.

Colour: Polished red wood.
Aroma: A delightful balance of wild honey and peat combine perfectly with a touch of allspice. Distant soft fruits add hints of yellow pear, melon and peach to the sweet, smoky nose.
Taste: An exquisite combination of spiced oak, soft, creamy vanilla and summer fruits with a dusting of cocoa. An infusion of sweet peat reek gently builds, adding an intriguing herbal, smoky contrast to the unique character.
Finish: A fantastic fusion of rich peat and smouldering embers bound together by fresh herbs; oregano, aniseed and chicory. A rush of sweet, wild honey provides a lovely contrast to this lively, intense expression.
