Paul Hletko, Gründer, Distiller und Präsident von Few Spirits in Chicago, hat das Unternehmen verlassen. Few Spirits wurde 2011 von ihm als eine der ersten Craft Distilleries in den USA gegründet und ging 2022 in den Besitz von Heaven Hill über.

So konnten wir bei Whiskyexperts einen Einspruch über den Button einlegen, bei whiskyexperts.com fehlt er allerdings,
Wie fast alle Blogger, Shops und Informationsseiten über Whisky (darunter selbstverständlich auch Whiskyexperts) bereits bemerkt haben, hat Meta, die Muttergesellschaft von Facebook, die Besitzer solcher Seiten und Gruppen benachrichtigt, dass diese Seiten nicht mehr weiterempfohlen werden. Dies scheint unabhängig davon zu geschehen, ob man die strikten Vorschriften zu solchen Seiten von Facebook eingehalten hat oder nicht (so ist zum Beispiel Whiskyexperts auf Facebook weltweit nur für User zu sehen, die in ihrem Land das Mindestalter für den Kosum von Spirituosen erreicht haben).
Diese Aktion ist nicht auf den deutschen Sprachraum beschränkt, sondern betrifft entsprechende Seiten weltweit, wie The Spirits Business nun in einem Artikel berichtet. Es betrifft auch Destillerien, Brauereien, Weingüter, Restaurants, Bars und Spirituosenhändler.
Es gab vor dieser Maßnahme keine offensichtlichen Änderungen in den Geschäftbedingungen noch solche in den Hinweisseiten für Inhalte zu alkoholischen Getränken. Interessant ist auch, dass – kontrolliert man als Seiteninhaber den Status der Seite, Facebook keine Ursachen für die Sperre der Weiterempfehlung angibt und man als Seitenbesitzer auch keine offensichtliche Möglichkeit hat, Einspruch gegen diese Maßnahme zu erheben.
Laut einem User mit Meta Verified Status soll ihm von einem Support-Mitarbeiter gesagt worden sein, dass diese Sperre ein Bug sei – wenn dem so ist, ist er bislang nicht korrigiert worden.
Für die gesamte Kommunikation zu alkoholischen Getränken auf der Plattform bedeuten diese Restriktionen ein Hindernis, da man auf normale Weise so keine neuen Follower mehr gewinnen kann. Umso wichtiger ist es zur Zeit, dass User Artikel, die sie interessieren, in ihren Feeds teilen und so mithelfen, ein breiteres Publikum zu erreichen – sei es für Tasting Notes, Berichte oder Veranstaltungen zum Thema Whisky. Auch wenn der Export von irischem Whiskey im Jahr 2025 um 5% sank (wir berichteten), gibt es dennoch Pläne, neue Destillerien zu bauen. In der Region Ards and North Down, in der bereits Brennereien wie Echlinville und Hinch tätig sind, will die Sacred Oak Spirits Company, nahe Comber im County Down, die Sacred Oak Distillery errichten.
Hinter der Sacred Oak Spirit Company stehen Justin Reid, ein Industriedesigner und Aaron Flaherty, der als Brennmeister fungieren wird (er war drei Jahre bei der Hinch Distillery), Derek Hardy sowie Gareth Reid, Bruder von Justin Reid, ein bekannter irischer Maler.
Die Destillerie soll am Gelände des Familiensitzes der Reids entstehen, gemeinsam mit einer Abfüllhalle und Lagerhäusern, die in bestehenden Gebäuden untergebracht werden sollen. Das Gebäude stammt aus dem 18. Jahrhundert.
Der Bauantrag ist nun eingereicht, die Ards and North Down Borough Council wird nun darüber zu entscheiden haben. Wir halten Sie natürlich auf dem Laufenden.
Zum Mondneujahr 2026 veröffentlicht Kavalan eine Sonderabfüllung, den Kavalan Golden Steed & Peonies. Er stammt aus Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez und Moscatel sherry casks und wird mit 40% vol. Alkoholstärke abgefüllt. In der Geschenksverpackung ist auch ein Nosing-Glas enthalten.
Dazu wird die taiwanesische Destillerie auch ein kleines Miniature Whisky Gift Set veröffentlichen, mit vier Miniaturen, die die Vielfalt des Geschmacks von Kavalan handlich entdecken lassen.

The Year of the Horse Limited Edition Golden Steed & Peonies packaging combines tradition and artistry. A golden steed and blooming peonies, symbolising vitality and abundance, grace the exterior. Flowing gold lines suggest Taiwan’s misty mountains and Kavalan’s pure water source. The horse stands for progress and perseverance, while the peony signifies wealth and honour. Together, they welcome the new year with hope and celebration.
A custom Kavalan tulip-shaped nosing glass is also included, crafted to elevate the whisky’s aroma and tasting experience.

Auf Teil 1 folgt Teil 2: Mit der Verkostung von heute stellt Serge Valentin weitere zehn Tasting Notes für Abfüllungen aus der Destillerie Caol Ila vor, und auch diesmal ists eine Vertikale, irgendwie (daher auch der Untertitel „in utter chaos“ für die Serie). Tendenziell höher als gestern sind die Bewertungen heute, im Bereich zwischen 84 und 91 Punkten.
Der Name Poli steht vor allem für ausgezeichneten Grappa – dass man aber dort im Familienbetrieb aucn hervorragenden Whisky herstellen kann, hat man mit den beiden bislang erschienenen Abfüllungen Segretario di Stato und Convlave bewiesen.

With 96 points, Segretario di Stato placed first among Italian whiskies in 2025. The new

Segretario di Stato whisky was created to celebrate a historic event that took place on October 15th, 2013: the appointment as Secretary of State of the Holy See of Cardinal Parolin, the most illustrious citizen of Schiavon, a small town in Veneto, home to Poli Distillerie since 1898. It is a single malt whisky, pleasantly peated, artisanally distilled with a bain‑marie pot-still and aged for 5 years in oak barrels, followed by a finishing period in Amarone casks. An international spirit with a Venetian soul.
Conclavewhisky, from the Latin cum clave, “room closed with a key”, is inspired by the place where cardinals of the Catholic Church gather when electing the new Pope, locked in, just like the casks in which Poli whiskies age for many years. It is obtained from peated and unpeated malted barley, distilled separately in a bain‑marie pot-still. The new‑make spirits then rest in medium‑toasted white oak barrels, used and regenerated, allowing only the softest tannins to be extracted from the wood’s pores. After 5 years of aging, the individual barriques are blended together.
POLI DISTILLERIE is a historic artisanal company, owned by the Poli family and founded in 1898 in Schiavon, near Venice and Bassano del Grappa (Veneto, Italy), in the heart of the region most renowned for the art of distillation. For four generations the Poli family has been operating with an ancient alembic entirely made of copper, one of the very few still in existence, to which innovative bain-marie stills (vacuum and traditional) have been added, always with the aim of crafting distillates characterized by a sophisticated balance between personality and elegance.

Die 2020 in London gegründete Agentur für die Entwicklung von Getränkemarken, GHF (ausgeschrieben: Glass Half Full), hat laut einem Bericht in The Spirits Business Fielden Whisky (die Destillerie ist aus der ehemaligen Oxford Artisan Distillery entstanden – wir berichteten hier) für eine nicht näher genannte Summe gekauft und plant einen Relaunch von Fielden Whisky noch Anfang dieses Jahres.
Tristram Coates, der Gründer von GHF, sagte dazu:
“Fielden is a perfect addition to the GHF portfolio, and we are incredibly excited to be building this brand alongside fellow like-minded and mission-led British spirit producers such as Sapling, Everleaf and Nc’nean.“
Dass hier der Name Nc’nean fällt, ist kein Zufall, denn GHF ist die exklusive Vertriebs- und Markenaufbau-Agentur für Nc’nean im britischen Markt – steht aber ansonsten, im Gegensatz zu jetzt Fielden Whisky, in keiner weiteren wirtschaftlichen Verflechtung mit der Highland-Destillerie rund um Annabel Thomas.
Bei Fielden Whisky will man den Relaunch mit einer neuen Brand Identity in den nächsten Monaten starten und sie auch bei Barkeepern und Konsumenten neu positionieren.
Dave Smith, CEO von Fielden Whisky, zeigt sich erfreut über die Übernahme:

Ob Smith nach der Akquisition der Brennerei durch GHF an Bord bleiben wird, ist nicht bekannt. Der interessante engische Whisky wird uns jedenfalls weiter erhalten bleiben.
Watt Whisky hat soeben das neue 16. Release auf den Markt gebracht, fünf ausgesuchte Whiskys aus Schottland, die von Kate und Mark Watt gemeinsam selektiert wurden.
Seit 2024 hat Genuss am Gaumen in Götzis in Vorarlberg den Import der Bottlings des unabhängigen Abfüllers übernommen – die neuesten Whiskys sind daher natürlich auch im Ladengeschäft dort und im Online-Shop erhältlich.

This special release is Non-chill Filtered & Natural Colour preserving its natural character. Bottled at 50% ABV, it offers a rich, layered profile that reflects both the quality of the casks and the purity of Lochlea’s Single Estate Spirit.

Die Glenlivet Snall Batch Collection ist zurück, mit drei Abfüllungen im Alter von 17, 19 und 20 Jahren, die ab sofort weltweit bei Fachhändlern zu finden sein werden. Der Glenlivet Cask Master, Kevin Balmforth, hat mit seinem Team drei Bottlings zusammengestellt, die im Namen schon ihren Geschmack tragen: The Glenlivet 17 Year Old Wildflower Honey, The Glenlivet 19 Year Old Indulgent Chocolate und der The Glenlivet 20 Year Old Orchard Fruitiness. This limited collection features the same three distinct aged statements as the inaugural Small Batch Collection – a 17 Year Old, a 19 Year Old, and a 20 Year Old – but showcases new and exclusive flavour profiles. Under the guardianship of The Glenlivet Cask Master, Kevin Balmforth, and his team, these meticulously crafted single malt whiskies dial up specific flavours while maintaining classic craft cues; each expression is cask strength, non-chilled filtered to preserve their purity and intensify the flavour profile.
At the heart of The Glenlivet Small Batch Collection is a masterful combination of hand-selected casks that shape each expression’s distinct character and are named accordingly. The Glenlivet 17 Year Old Wildflower Honey is exclusively matured in 1st fill American oak; The Glenlivet 19 Year Old Indulgent Chocolate is a rich tapestry of 1st fill American oak, 1st fill Sherry, and 2nd fill ex-Scotch barrels; and The Glenlivet 20 Year Old Orchard Fruitiness is a harmonious blend of 1st fill American oak, 2nd fill ex-Scotch, and 2nd fill American oak hogsheads.

Whiskey House of Kentucky Completes First Seven-Story K-RAX Warehouse with Koetter Group
New barrel warehouse provides major advancements in whiskey maturation, worker safety, and structural integrity
ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky., Jan. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Whiskey House of Kentucky, the most advanced custom whiskey distillery in the country, completed construction of the first, seven-story state-of-the-art rickhouse utilizing innovative K-RAX barrel storage technology. This is the first of 12 warehouses that Whiskey House will build over the next decade with The Koetter Group, which reached construction completion one month ahead of schedule. Constructed on Whiskey House’s property in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, each warehouse will hold 48,048 barrels and is designed to improve barrel maturation performance, enhance worker and contractor safety, reduce maintenance needs, and strengthen structural integrity and longevity. The pioneering K-RAX warehouse design increases maturation performance and airflow by using a full-length vented cupola in conjunction with their continuous floor vents around the entire perimeter of the building. In addition to air flow, the floor vents allow alcohol vapors — which are heavier than air — to exit the building for lower vapor buildup, which reduces barrel and structural damage. The K-RAX warehouse improves worker and contractor safety with its full width walk boards, wire mesh fall protection next to walkways, elimination of pinch points throughout the warehouse, and stronger dunnage that provides improved worker safety and smoother barrel rolling.
K-RAX warehouses are constructed using southern yellow pine that is glue laminated, heat treated, and kiln dried. As a result, the material is stronger and prevents powder post beetles from damaging the wood. Moreover, the CNC machined connections create a very tight fit for very little movement. This eliminates the need for a plumb bob and enables unbalanced loading so that barrels can be loaded and unloaded from any floor or side of the building without jeopardizing its structural integrity.
